The Return Of Pen Island Studios
The talented (and wildly attractive) team at Pen Island Studios have been at it again, this time bringing you this killer video that shows you how to increase conversions without changing copy.
You get five case studies in this one. Good stuff.
P.S. At the time this was released, no one has yet to be injured on the electric skateboard. MoFo almost lost a toe, but he didn’t feel it so that doesn’t count.
But the tables may turn because Jeff Walker, Brad “Bug Eye” Fallon, Andy “The Knife” Jenkins, and “New York” Mike Filsaime are scheduled to arrive today for some:
A: Debauchery.
B: Video content creation (to be given as bonuses to certain customers).
This means that there’s a possibility that we may get footage of someone (Bug Eye) wrecking the electric skateboard while talking about marketing …therefore creating the best video ever.
Like Internet Marketing meets Jackass or something.
Anyway - enjoy this video and get the report. It’s good.

Good info…and nice STASH of boards Frank…I don’t know about the eye studies now being top right instead of left. But definitely conversions are increased when you move stuff around without changing copy…it’s like making it easier for the visitor to digest.
I teach students to increase their opt-in % by driving TARGETED traffic to their You Inc.

Is one of the 10 conversion secrets putting a video of a hot girl in a short skirt on your opt-in page?
Check out http://www.10conversionsecrets.com if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
If the skirt was 2 inches shorter, I think you could increase opt-ins by as much as 25%
EDIT FROM FRANK: I agree. The skirt should be shorter. You know …for testing purposes.

Under no circumstances should you try to ride electric skateboards with beer in hand. Well, I guess if you pick up a hot blonde on the beach boardwalk, then it’s okay, but other then that scenario, you should NEVER ride any skateboard with a beer in hand.
Wait,
Well if there is a cool downhill course at a local brewery or something that would be okay too.
Or, let’s just say you custom built a “flask” into your skateboard, that would be okay too.
Or, if you had one of those hats with 2 beer dispensers on each side, that would be okay as well.
But other then that, beer and skateboarding should never mix (unless you’re like 16 and hate your parents).
Stay off drugs and the devil brew kids.

Hey Frank,
First of all, it took awhile but I’m just stating the obvious here. I’ve only seen a few of your videos but your marketing is really they were made to portray you right? I like it. just a bunch of surfer type dudes hanging out and making money online with great tips that work.
Here’s an observation that you might want to use. It’s about something I’ve seen in 3 of your videos and on another video with you in it.
It’s about something which in some circles might be quite irreverent. In fact, it might be considered downright dirty in the wrong club. It’s a four letter word. It begins with the letter “F”. But it may have already become a hallmark of Frank Kern…It can even demonstrate the ultra casual lifestyle you have made for yourself and have chosen. You’ve earned it, you’ve built your wealth for yourself. Who is to say otherwise?
Like I said earlier, it’s just an observation. So, keep on demonstrating it. Well, ok. the four letter thing…it’s your FEET.
Maybe, you could call it “Marketing With Your Feet” or “Bare Foot Marketing”?
Whatever you do, I like it.
Stephen.
P.S. Many years ago I used to like Corona but I still look and feel like the way I was born…so let us know what happens with Jeff Walker and you.

One thing…I read through your $200/day post and I found a comment in their from a fellow warrior that mentioned it was not a valid case and that the post was removed from the WF because it was basically… a lie.
If you have a moment you may want to remove that post or update the content to specify that it isn’t valid, so people don’t get all excited and waste hours only to find it isn’t true.
Cheers!

I spoke with them on a couple of occasions and I’m thinking about having them work on my free marketing system at http://www.stickyweb.ws to see if we can get the masses to understand that this system really is free! It can market any business that you want, while making you money using the system itself on autopilot.
I paused this video to speak with a happy woman that the system recruited for me. Both of us are total newbies and can’t believe how this automated video system set us up to make real money! I hope to get Creative Digital Media to increase my profits even more…

Great. Frank drips cool, as always. The eye movement stuff is a bit more complicated than what Matt suggests. Eye movements are really controlled by a little pre-attentive mechanism. It’s completely subconscious. There’s a little man inside your head that looks at the page about 500 milliseconds before you even become aware that you are looking at a page. It searches “information-rich areas” and directs the ballistic (once started, can’t be stopped — like a cannon ball) eye movements to those areas. To direct the visitor’s attention, you really need to go into a subconscious black art and tweak stuff at that level. That’s why it makes a lot of sense to have keywords on your page — the subconscious mind is seeing those even if your conscious isn’t aware of it. That’s why certain names pop out in the newspaper — the little guy (who is as cool as Frank) picks out those words long before your conscious brain chucks along. Keep it up boys. John

Isn’t the top right thing about our resting the cursor/mouse to the right out of the way so we can read top left.
BUT - when our eyes eventually drift right it’s much easier to move the cursor half an inch rather than 6 inches?

Damn, I could use a skateboard like that down here in south Mission Beach. Wonder if they make a version with a surfboard rack attached . . .
Seriously, the conversion ideas in the video rock. They validate Seth Godin’s theory that getting people to do what you want on your website is like trying to train a monkey to climb a ladder and jump into a vat of lime Jell-O: you have to give the monkey a very obvious banana to lead him where you want.
In other words, if you want your visitor to do what you want, then you better make it easy and obvious. Matt’s ideas seem to do just that. I am going to get on these concepts, like, yesterday.

This Video just confirmed what the late great Gary Halbert always taught…always put your ad on the RH side of the newspaper & above the fold.
Gary claimed that having your ad on the LH side of a magazine or newspaper was the kiss of death as far as ad response or conversions go.
Heck even David Oglivy stated that having the coupon in the middle of your ad above the fold would increase ad response by 80% (if I remember correctly) as revealed by Jay Abraham.

Hey man,
All that stuff was pretty cool . . . Good info.
But the reason I’m leaving this comment is I remember you talking about not being able to skate because you didn’t have shoes anymore.
I noticed that you got some new Vans. haha
Did you get them to go with the new moto-deck or was that just a coincidence?
I just saw some video of you either at Rich Scheffren or Eben Pagans seminar the other day. I can’t remember which one it was, but it was where you talked about writing down how you wanted your life to look.
The way you flipped the script on that was F’n funny dude … You could literally see the lightbulbs going off above the heads of some of the people in the audience!
I order and watch quite a bit of that type of stuff, since I’m here in China and can’t really get to events or anything.
I watch so much of that stuff while I’m working that my gf who’s like a 20 year old Chinese girl knows all the major players in the IM world, and what everybody’s “about”.

Thought that you may be interested in my experience with “Flare”.
I used “Flare” on my website and the payment service that I was using would not activate my account until I provided evidence that I had permission from the companies whose logos I was using. I have now removed the logos.
I also had a one sentence quote from Bill Gates on the site and the payment service wanted to see written permission from Billy. I have now removed the quote.
Seems like you have to be very careful.

I want to address the “Bong” sticker. It’s for BillaBONG, the surf company. The name has nothing to do with actual bongs. I think it’s an Australian term for “small lake” or something.
Seriously …look it up.
And it doesn’t just say “BONG”. It actually says “Billabong” on it. So it’s not a piece of pro-reefer propaganda.

Frank,
Awesome content as always. However, like many of your blog videos, I only get about 1/4 before they stop. Am using Firefox on a Mac.
Matt’s PDF is awesome opening in full screen mode - cool!
BTW, you mentioned some shoulder pain from too much mousing around. Here’s a good free fix for that (yes, a shameless self promotion but a good one)
Short video on preventing shoulder pain from mouse use
You rock dude!

Frank and friends,
Thanks for sharing. Even though you’re pitching something, it’s something we want. Evidentially, a lot of people want electric skateboards too. Maybe you could market those next.
Your vidios always put me in a good mood just as Beavis and Butthead used to do back in the mid 90’s.
Love you guys…………..!

Frank,
Once again great video. One challenge: the follow up emails right when it gets to looking professional - comes in code and cant be read -
I’m sure they are good at design and such, but getting readable emails - they’re dropping the ball!
Oh well

I put this schtuph to work yesterday for a site of mine.
A more graphical design is being split test against it’s text only counterpart… The text only control already gets 39.8% conversion, so we’ll see.
Results will be posted in a few days….
I guess lotion is out of the question then, eh Frank? Darn censorship.
Go go 1984.

Hi guys - great stuff as usual!! Cheers!
To add to your findings, (from a left hander who uses his left hand to mouse with!), -
Newspapers have always sold the top right ad space for more than double of the left.
Lower right of page was in the middle of that price.
So yes - observations confirmed!

This is great stuff, no doubt.
But what cracks me up is that on earlier videos you have on this blog with Matt on them, he is so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, etc. However, in this video - Matt seems very hiiiiiiiigh.
How you gents can come out with such good info and be so laid back you guys are almost melting into the couch will always be a mystery to me.
YepYep
EDIT FROM FRANK: Neither of us were “high”. Matt’s natural personality is that of being very subdued. He’s a programmer by trade. These guys aren’t known as the liveliest bunch.

Hey Frank, I attended Eben’s latest thing last weekend and don’t think I was called by my real name the whole time (everyone thought I was you)…so I went with it and had a blast.
What I’m TRYING to say is that there was one night when I had too much to drink, things happened, I used your name and let’s just say that you did some things that you should be ashamed of. It’s AWESOME having no accountability!
I’m just messin with you…or am I?
Either way, we should hang soon…we could screw with a lot of people.
Oh, and this video was great..love the skateboard.

Frank, as always… very nicely done, a little fun thrown in, and excellent content.
For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to SAVE that pdf, everything is greyed out (save, save as, view source, etc) so I’m guessing that it was programmed that way.
He has another product in that alone!!
